Los Springboks versión ´´muletto´´ sentenciaron la suerte de los Pumas que entre sombras y luces, encajaron su novena derrota consecutiva, al claudicar en el mítico estadio Loftus Versfeld de Pretoria (la capital ejecutiva de Sudáfrica) por 24-18 (8-10)  en amistoso de preparación a la IX Copa Mundial de Japón 2019. No hubo dinámica para los 35.000 espectadores que esperaban mayor vehemencia en partido que fue disminuyendo en intensidad y donde los Pumas mostraron más sombras que luces hasta el final del juego y que fue suficiente para los Springboks experimentales, para obtener la victoria, después de que ambos apoyaron dos tries cada uno. La estrella entre tantas sombras fue el wing de los Natal Sharks Sbu Nkosi que apoyó dos tries de espectacular destreza individual, para diez puntos de los Springboks, que consolidaron el triunfo gracias a la puntería de su apertura Elton Jantjies, autor de 4 penales y 1 conversión que fueron determinantes. Mientras que los Pumas marcaron sendos tries con los porteños Guido Petti Pagadizábal  y Pablo Materas, a la vez que el apertura porteño Joaquín Díaz Bonilla sumó 1 penal y 1  conversión y el apertura suplente porteño Benjamin Urdapilleta aumentó con otro penal totalizando los 18 puntos de la selección mayor argentina. El partido nunca decoló ya que tuvo arranques y frenadas por varias colisiones brutales, como golpes entre el entrerriano Marcos Kremer y Marcell Coetzee en el minuto 17 y que forzó la salida del sudafricano siendo reemplazado por el flanker Kwagga Smith y Kremer penalizado. Aunque Jantjies intentó dinamizar la contienda con lanzamiento al full back  Warrick Gelant que descargó en Nkosi, quien superó a los porteños Ezcurra y Cancelliere para el try inicial, y que fue convertido por Jantjies, pero los Pumas igualaron con el try de intercepción del segunda línea porteño Guido Petti Pagadizábal a Cobus Reinach y que Díaz Bonilla convirtió para el parcial de 10-8 al descanso.

Sudáfrica en el reinicio tuvo otro excelente try de Nkosi en el minuto 48, superando a tres defensores antes de zambullirse en el ingol argentino y que Jantjies agregó la conversión para el 15-10, pero el apertura suplente porteño Benjamín Urdapilleta redujo el déficit con penal en el minuto 57 y otra vez Jantjies sentenció con penal para los Boks a los 60´. Los Pumas con ímpetu contraatacaron con el flanker porteño Pablo Matera que apoyó su try para el 18-18 a los 65´ y que Urdapilleta no pudo convertir antes de que Jantjies le diera a Sudáfrica la ventaja nuevamente a los 69´ con otro penal. Los minutos finales fueron tensos con el debutante porteño Lucas Mensa que festejaba su try, que no fue convalidado porque el centro rosarino Jerónimo de la Fuente había obstruido al pilar Vincent Koch cuando intentaba tacklear a Urdapilleta. Los Springboks sellaron el triunfo  cuando Jantjies embocó su cuarto penal en el minuto 78. Ahora el lunes el entrenador porteño Mario Ledesma comunicará los 31 jugadores del plantel mundialista que el 7 de septiembre tendrá su último amistoso con el equipo australiano de Randwick en Sidney. En otros partidos Francia goleó a Escocia por 32-3 en Niza y Gales ganó a Inglaterra 13-6 en Cardiff. Ahora Gales es el primero en el ranking mundial por delante de Nueva Zelanda.

The final minutes were tense with the debutant of Buenos Aires´s centre Lucas Mensa who celebrated his try, which was not validated because the centre from Rosario Jerónimo de la Fuente had obstructed the prop Vincent Koch when he tried to tackle Urdapilleta. The Springboks sealed the win when Jantjies put his fourth penalty goal in the 78th minute. Now on Monday the Buenos Aires´s coach Mario Ledesma will communicate the 31 players of the World Cup squad, that on September 7 will have his last friendly with the Australian Randwick team in Western Sydney.
