Como nunca antes, el rugby argentino unió pasiones alrededor del mundo, desde Brisbane en el Pacífico Sur, llegaron los tries del wing cordobés Santiago Carreras y desde la Ciudad Luz de París, los tries del wing cordobés Luciano González Rizzoni, para victorias de Jaguares sobre los Reds por 34-23 con puntos bonus y de Pumas 7s contra Irlanda 7s por 22-7 e Inglaterra 7s por 31-10 en Seven de París.

El rugby argentino habló con acento cordobés en un sábado inolvidable, con Santiago Carreras del Córdoba Athletic, consagrado como el Man of the Match en el Suncorp Stadium de Brisbane en el profundo noreste australiano, autor de un doblete para que los Jaguares apunten a los cuartos de final en los playoffs del IV Super Rugby 2019.

Y los Pumas 7s en el grupo A del Seven de París ganando en el Stade Bouin (frente al mítico Parque de los Príncipes) con sello cordobés la clasificación a cuartos de final de oro del Seven de París, última etapa de la Serie Mundial de Seven 2018/2019, ganando en el grupo A con sello cordobés de los tryman Luciano González Rizzoni y Lautaro Bazán Vélez a Irlanda e Inglaterra y perdiendo con Fidji. Pero en esa fiesta del rugby que es el seven de París, deslumbró la potencia del wing de La Tablada, Luciano González Rizzoni, autor de un doblete ante Irlanda, arrasando con quienes se atrevieron a enfrentarlo para ganar 22-7 y luego repetir en el último encuentro frente a Inglaterra con victoria de 31-19 con try de potencia, al igual que el de Lautaro Bazán Vélez. Fue el sexto triunfo consecutivo de los Jaguares en Australia, en el final de la gira por el Pacífico Sur, tras haber ganado a los Waratahs en Sidney, por lo que hoy se vió un segundo tiempo superlativo con las performances de los cordobeses Juan Cruz Mallía como full back, de Santiago Carreras como wing y de Enrique Pieretto Heiland como pilar derecho, en estado de gracia. La selección provincial argentina suma 41 puntos en el liderato de la Conferencia Sudafricana y está tercero en la tabla general de las tres conferencias (australiana, neozelandesa y sudafricana), por detrás de los campeones salientes de los Canterbury Crusaders de Nueva Zelanda que suman 53 puntos y de los Hurricanes de Wellington que cuentan con 44 unidades. El próximo sábado reciben en cancha del Club Vélez Sársfield, a los Natal Sharks sudafricanos a las 16:00 hrs. Mientras tanto, en la jornada dominical, los Pumas 7s del quinteto cordobés formado por Gastón Revol, Lautaro Bazán Vélez, Fernando Luna, Germán Schulz y Luciano González Rizzoni, enfrentarán a los All Blacks 7s a partir de las 07:12 de mañana buscando las semifinales de oro. Completan Estados Unidos vs Kenia, Fidji vs Francia y Sudáfrica vs Samoa.
