Concluída la serie mundial de seven 2018/2019 que consagró en el Seven de París, décima y última etapa a Fidji como campeón, además de conquistar el cetro ganando a Nueva Zelanda 35-24, el futuro de los Pumas 7s pasa por clasificar a los Juegos Olímpico de Japón 2020, en el torneo regional de Sudamérica, al terminar en 9º lugar de la tabla. Fidji, Estados Unidos, Nueva Zelanda y Sudáfrica consiguieron la promoción olímpica al ocupar los primeros cuatro lugares junto a Japón (penúltimo) que es el organizador de la manifestación . Argentina en París comenzó el segundo día cayendo ante Nueva Zelanda por 21-12 en los cuartos de final del Oro donde marcaron el cordobés   Lautaro Bazán Vélez  y  el porteño Franco Sábato. luego quedó eliminada de las semifinales por el quinto puesto por Samoa que ganó 12-10 y donde marcaron el porteño Felipe del Mestre y el cordobés Luciano González Rizzoni. Ahora toca en menos de un mes, disputar  el Torneo de Sudamérica  que tendrá lugar en Santiago de Chile entre el 29-30 de junio. Del plantel argentino destacó la base del equipo con  los cordobeses  Luciano González Rizzoni (La Tablada) que lleva jugados 23 torneos, con 123 partidos, marcando 46 tries y suma 230 puntos,  Lautaro Bazán Vélez (Córdoba Athletic) ha jugado 27 torneos, con 139 partidos, anotando 48 tries, 57 conversiones y suma  354 puntos, -Gastón Revol (La Tablada), que lleva  disputados 74 torneos, con 337 partidos, apoyando 54 tries, con 6 penales, y 313 conversiones para sumar 914 puntos, Germán Schulz (Tala), ya disputó 36 torneos,  con 191 partidos, marcando 53 tries para sumar 265 puntos y Fernando Luna (Córdoba Athletic), que ya jugó 45 torneos, con 218 partidos, marcando 53 tries, más 11 conversiones para totalizar  287 puntos.
