Los Pumas disputarán ésta madrugada el primer amistoso del año ante un combinado ‘’Australia Selection”, en el estadio TG Millner Sportsground, de Marsfield, suburbio oeste de Sydney, tras haber superado tres cuarentenas: en Argentina, en Uruguay y en Australia adonde llegaron a comienzos de octubre.

Argentina tras una abstinencia de más de un año (el 9 de octubre de 2019 en el 9º Mundial de Japón ante Estados Unidos), se prepara en amistoso (01:00 del viernes en Argentina) al debut  en la escena internacional 2020, en el Tri Nations con Nueva Zelanda y Australia entre el 14 de noviembre y el 5 de diciembre.

En el XV inicial, destacan dos estrellas cordobesas, como son el full back Santiago Carreras, el y centro Juan Cruz Mallía, y el apertura tucumano Domingo Miotti; mientras que el segunda línea Ignacio Calás y el octavo Joaquín Oviedo, serán suplentes. Será también el debut como asesor, del entrenador australiano Michael Cheika, ex coach de los Wallabies.

Mientras tanto, los jugadores que militan en Europa, y donde destaca el segunda línea cordobés Matías Alemanno, cumplen el protocolo de la cuarentena y estarán disponibles para los entrenamientos con el plantel, el 4 de noviembre. Es decir, diez días antes del debut en el Tres Naciones el 14 de noviembre ante los All Blacks.

Tras 387 días de inactividad, los Pumas engrenados por el porteño Mario Ledesma, regresan a la competición, después del 9 de octubre de 2019, cuando enfrentaron a Estados Unidos en la fase eliminatoria del 9º Mundial Japón 2019, ganando a las Águilas por 47-17.
