Los Pumas 7s con quinteto cordobés debutan mañana en Dubai - Pumas 7s with quintet from Córdoba, debut tomorrow at Dubai

Los Pumas 7s con los cordobeses Gastón Revol (Capitán), Fernando Luna, Lautaro Bazán Vélez, Conrado Roura y Luciano González Rizzoni, debutarán mañana  en el Seven de Dubai, primera ronda del Circuito Mundial de Sevens 2017/2018 en el grupo D con  Nueva Zelanda, Estados Unidos y Samoa.

El plantel entrenado por el porteño Santiago Gómez Cora y el tucumano Leonardo Gravano,  se completa con el mendocino Maximiliano Filizzola, y los porteños Rodrigo Etchart, Julián Domínguez, Marcos Moroni,  Santiago Mare, Felipe Del Mestre y Gastón Arias.
La temporada servirá de preparación para la Copa del Mundo que se disputará en San Francisco, en julio de 2018, donde los Pumas están clasificados.
Gastón Revol  fue uno de los destacados dentro del equipo. El capitán encabezó la defensa albiceleste, ya que fue el que más tackles realizó: 116 y también convirtió varios de los tries argentinos, sumando la mayor cantidad de puntos: 155.

Hay que destacar dos victorias de Los Pumas 7’s durante la serie 2016/2017: frente a Nueva Zelanda, en Wellington y en Las Vegas, y  la obtenida ante Escocia, campeón de la última etapa, por 22-14 en Hong Kong. Además, en Vancouver y ante Fidji, actual campeón olímpico, se logró un triunfo de 26-24.

Según  Gómez Cora ‘’en esta temporada queremos terminar séptimos cómo mínimo, lo que implicaría romper la barrera de cuartos de final que por juego, cansancio o nervios no pudimos romper la temporada pasada. Ese es el gran objetivo de la serie’’.

’’El comienzo es siempre interesante porque estamos todos queriendo mostrar algo nuevo, distinto. Los equipos que tienen ventaja son los que llevan mucho tiempo junto cómo Sudáfrica que tiene todos jugadores con promedio de 40 torneos, lo que permite trabajar menos en armado del juego, ya que se conocen todos’’, dijo Gómez Cora.

The Pumas 7s with 5 players from Córdoba: Gastón Revol (Captain), Fernando Luna, Lautaro Bazán Vélez, Conrado Roura and Luciano González Rizzoni, will debut tomorrow at the Dubai Seven, first round of the Sevens World Tour 2017/2018 in Pool D with New Zealand, United States and Samoa.

The squad trained by Santiago Gómez Cora from Buenos Aires and Leonardo Gravano, from Tucumán, completed by Maximiliano Filizzola from Mendoza, and 6 players from Buenos Aires:  Rodrigo Etchart, Julián Domínguez, Marcos Moroni, Santiago Mare, Felipe Del Mestre and Gastón Arias.
The season will serve as preparation for the World Cup to be held in San Francisco, in July 2018, where the Pumas are classified.
