Germán Schulz rumbo al hat-trick a Escocia en Seven de Vancouver

Los All Blacks 7s. ganaron el Seven de Vancouver, sexta etapa de la Serie Mundial de Seven disputada en Vancouver, y son líderes absolutos, Argentina se derrumbó al 9º lugar de la tabla. Canadá ganó el bronce ante 74.560 espectadores en los dos días de torneo.  La 7ma. etapa, será en Londres entre el 23 y 24 de mayo.

Tras derrotas iniciales ante Inglaterra por 31-0 (con 5 tries) y Sudáfrica por 17-6, Los Pumas7s lograron empatarle a Japón 14-14, y en el segundo día cayeron con Escocia en cuartos de final por el 9° puesto por 28-17 con hat-trick del cordobés Germán Schulz, se ganó a Gales 31-26 y se cayó ante Irlanda 31-16 por 13° puesto. Lo peor fue la baja en el segundo tiempo de Argentina-Japón, del  playmaker cordobés Lautaro Bazán Vélez se llevó un fuerte golpe tras la embestida de Ozawa y salió lesionado en camilla a falta de 2’ para el pitazo final. Cuando era retirado alzó su brazo con el pulgar hacia arriba en señal de que no sería grave la lesión. Mientras tanto All Blacks 7s, ganaron el oro a los Wallabies 7s por 17-14 y suman11 puntos de ventaja sobre los Blitzboks sudafricanos en la tabla y Canadá ganó  el bronce escalando al 8º lugar desplazando a Argentina que se derrumbó al 9º  escalón. La final fue un asunto de sube y baja, que incluyó tres tarjetas amarillas, pero finalmente un par de tries de Joe Ravouvou sellaron la victoria para Nueva Zelanda, quien realizó su famosa Haka en celebración después de recibir sus medallas.

Los All Blacks Sevens alcanzaron la final ganando 17-5 en cuartos de final a Fidji y a  Sudáfrica, con cinco tries para ganar una semifinal de alta calidad por 27-15. Y Canadá conquistó la medalla de bronce con victoria de 26-19 sobre los ganadores del año pasado..
