Sudáfrica enfrentará Argentina el sábado en la segunda ronda del VII Rugby Championship 2018, como favorito para ganar por 10 puntos en el Estadio Malvinas Argentinas de la Ciudad de Mendoza, en la faldas de la Cordillera de los Andes y fronterizo con Chile (16:10). Lo mismo que Nueva Zelanda que es favorito por 20 puntos para ganar a Australia en el Eden Park de Auckland (04:35 hora argentina).

Los Pumas una vez más, se presentan en el máximo certamen del hemisferio sur apostando a su pareja de medios integrada por el apertura tucumano Nicolás Sánchez (está a 28 puntos de superar el registro del porteño Felipe Contepomi, como máximo goleador de la historia en los Pumas), y el medio scrum mendocino Gonzalo Bertranou, sin lugar a dudas la mejor expresión del rugby argentino en su puesto.

Pero los dolores de cabeza vienen en la vulnerabilidad de su pareja de centros integrada por los porteños  Matías Moroni y  Bautista Ezcurra; como así también la lenta cobertura del wing porteño  Bautista Delguy  (responsable directo del try del medio scrum Faf De Klerk bajo los palos tras reptar pegado a la formación), y de la presión en mauls, scrums y lines-out de los delanteros sudafricanos. Por lo que extraña que no sean titulares el flanker santiagueño Tomás Lezana y el segunda línea cordobés Matías Alemanno, quienes esperarán la ocasión de jugar desde el banco de suplentes, donde no fue convocado el  hooker salteño Diego Fortuny con rodaje del primer test y se llama al porteño Facundo Bosch que había visto el test de Durban por televisión. Para el entrenador de Sudáfrica, Rassie,  "Siempre calificamos a los Pumas como un equipo muy físico y lo sentimos en Durban, por lo que pienso que van a intensificar (el sábado) esa maniobra en  un juego más duro en los  mauls, scrums y las arranques de las formaciones, incluído el line ".

Los Springboks, dominaron a los Pumas en Durban, con un  83% en los saques de  la hilera, y casi el 100%  en el scrum, y lo mismo en los mauls. Por lo que esas fase del juego fueron  determinantes para levantar el pasivo 10-14 en el primer tiempo, para culminar en el 34-21 final.

Reaparece en segunda línea sudafricana Franco Mostert  por Pieter-Steph du Toit, que va al banco de suplentes. Es llamativa la inclusión del apertura Handré Pollard de mala actuación el sábado pasado con eficacia de 2 de 7 en las conversiones; por suerte el kick preciso del medio scrum Faf de Klerk, a los veloces wingers Makazole Mapimpi  y Aphiwe Dyantyi, eclipsó la errática performance de Pollard.
