 Argentina 7 se quedó en Cuartos de final del Seven de Ciudad del Cabo, segunda etapa del Circuito Mundial de Seven 2019-2020, al ser eliminada por Francia 7 por 19-10 (7-10),  mientras que el Oro fue para Nueva Zelanda que ganó a Sudáfrica por 7-5 y el Bronce para Francia que superó Fidji 29-24. Cumplidas dos etapas en 2019, comenzará en enero el segundo tramo 2020 con los Seven de Hamilton (25-16 enero) en Nueva Zelanda y Sydney (1-2 de febrero) en Australia. Por lo que se espera el regreso para ese tramo,  del playmaker cordobés Lautaro Bazán Vélez, lesionado en su rodilla izquierda. Comparten la punta de la tabla de posiciones Nueva Zelanda y Sudáfrica con 41 puntos, 3º Francia 28, 4º Argentina e Inglaterra 24, 6º Fidji 23, 7º  Samoa 18, 8º Australia y Estados Unidos 18, 10º Irlanda 17, 11º Kenia 15, 12º Canadá y Escocia 13, 14º España 9, 15º Gales y Japón 3 pts. 

Ante Francia, Los Pumas 7s. disputaron un partido de alta intensidad, pero los Bleus 7 jugaron a un ritmo que fue sorpresa en todo el seven sudafricano y que le posibilitó ganar la medalla de bronce y el tercer escalón en la tabla por detrás de los líderes Nueva Zelanda y Sudáfrica, y por delante de Argentina que fue cuarto. En los cuatro partidos que disputó Argentina 7, el jugador más regular por su prestación fue el ball-carrier cordobés Germán Schulz, que ya había demostrado su buena forma físico-técnica en el seven debut, el de Dubai en Emiratos Árabes Unidos.  En la pausa hasta el 25 de enero, habrá que mejorar el sistema defensivo.

Argentina 7 stayed in the quarterfinals of the Seven of Cape Town, second stage of the Seven World Circuit 2019-2020, being eliminated by France 7 by 19-10 (7-10), while Gold went to New Zealand who won South Africa 7-5 and the Bronze for France that beat Fidji 29-24.
