Para el desafío de mañana a las 05:00 (hora argentina) en el Ajinomoto Stadium de Tokio, el entrenador porteño  Mario Ledesma, dejó fuera de los 23 del plantel de Argentina contra Inglaterra, al apertura tucumano  Nicolás Sánchez y en su lugar sigue al apertura porteño Benjamín  Urdapilleta, en la tercera y decisiva fecha del Grupo C en IX Mundial Japón 2019, donde Inglaterra suma 10 puntos, por 9 de Francia y 6 de Argentina .

Ante la urgencia de atrapar los cuartos de final, fue un shock el anuncio de dejar afuera a Sánchez que se proclamó el mayor goleador en la VIII Copa Mundial de Inglaterra-Gales 2015. También serán titulares el hooker porteño Julián Montoya que marcó un hat-trick  a Tonga y el wing cordobés Santiago Carreras, que anotó su primer try mundialista, también a Tonga.  También quedó afuera pero sigue como suplente, el octavo santiagueño Tomás Lezana y es sustituído por el entrerriano  Javier Ortega Desio que regresa tras haber jugado contra Francia y quién sigue titular es el pilar salteño Juan Figallo. Por lo que el partido es una victoria obligada para los Pumas, ya que perdieron contra  Francia, y ahora es crucial ganarle a Inglaterra  para seguir en la contienda. Por el lado de Inglaterra, Owen Farrell será el capitán y como centro, con Manu Tuilagi, mientras que  Elliot Daly, Jonny May y Anthony Watson son el trío del fondo y con George Ford como apertura, y Ben Young como medio scrum, en su 92º cap que lo convierte en el tercer jugador con más trayectoria por detrás de Dylan Hartley (97) y Jason Leonard (114).  El hooker Dan Cole igualará a Youngs si aparece durante el partido desde el banco de suplentes. El pack es la gran preocupación inglesa: Joe Marler, Jamie George y Kyle Sinckler van  en primera línea; Maro Itoje y George Kruis en la segunda; Tom Curry, Sam Underhill y Billy Vunipola, en tercera línea. Por lo que el entrenador-australiano-japonés Eddie Jones que hace 10 cambios en su 15 titular, expresó: "Estamos en Tokio por primera vez y los jugadores están emocionados de estar aquí y han tenido una buena preparación y sabemos que Argentina es un muy buen equipo y nuestros jugadores estarán listos para el juego". “Argentina es un equipo completamente diferente de otros que hemos jugado hasta ahora y siempre se trata de una competición física, por lo que trataremos  de hacer que nuestro juego sea correcto, en un buen lugar de la cancha y asegurarnos de estar con defensa organizada y listos a sumarle puntos a ellos", resaltó Eddie Jones.
