El flanker Siyamthanda ‘’Siya’’ Kolisi, de 27 años (nació el 16 de junio de 1991 en Porth Elizabeth, extremo meridional de Sudáfrica, sobre el Océano Índico, y que es capitán de los Stormers de Ciudad del Cabo (desde el 20 de febrero de 2017), será el nuevo capitán de los Springboks  que enfrentarán en junio, en la ventana del otoño del Hemisferio Sur a Inglaterra en la serie de tres partidos. Por lo que Kolisi, bajo la nueva conducción del entrenador  Rassie Erasmus, quién anunció hoy lunes 28 de mayo de 2018, que se convertirá en el primer jugador negro a ser capitán de  la selección de rugby de Sudáfrica, uno de los últimos bastiones del deporte sudafricano que era reservado a los blancos en tiempos del apartheid (cultura y razas separadas) y que cambió esa tendencia en 1995 cuando asumió como presidente de Sudáfrica Nelson Madiba Mandela, y se incluyó en el plantel entrenado por George Moir Christie, más conocido como Kitch Christie  y que disputó la III Copa Mundial, al wing mulato Chester Williams, en el equipo que luego se proclamó campeón del mundo venciendo a los All Blacks por 15-12 con un drop del apertura Joel Theodore Stransky al final del  tiempo suplementario. Ahora Siya Kolisi  con 28 caps y 20 puntos con los Springboks desde su debut el 15 de junio de 2013 en Nelspruit ante Escocia, y con 103 selecciones con la franquicia de los Stormes y 80 puntos y que ya enfrentó a los Jaguares en el Super Rugby, casado con Rachel Smith (28) y con un hijo, Nicholas (3),  se prepara a capitanear Sudáfrica en los tres partidos previstos ante Inglaterra, en el Ellis Park de Johannesburgo el 9 de junio, en el Free State Stadium de Bloemfontein el 16 de junio y en Newlands de Ciudad del Cabo el 23 de junio.

También Rassie Erasmus anunció que el capitán de Sudáfrica en el amistoso con Gales del próximo sábado en el RFK de Washington en Estados Unidos, será el segunda línea blanco Pieter-Steph du Toit, que milita en los Stormers.

Los Jaguares  federales hacen  historia al vencer a los Sharks 29-13 (17-7) por primera vez en temporada histórica con  la sexta victoria consecutiva en el Super Rugby 15 y con hat-trick del wing tucumano Ramiro Moyano, t fue quien lanzó la pelora para el cuarto try del wing porteño Bautista Delguy, por lo que se sumó  punto bonus ofensivo.

El sexto triunfo tras ganar a  los Bulls hace una semana, significa que la franquicia argentina le ganó a dos equipos australianos, a dos neozelandeses y a dos sudafricanos en seis partidos sucesivos.Y consolida la  segunda plaza en la Conferencia Sudafricana, con 34 puntos por 36 del líder Lions.

Gran actuación del apertura tucumano Nicolás Sánchez y del medio scrum mendocino Gonzalo Bertranou, como así tambi;en de los entrerriano Javier Ortega Desio y Marcos Kremer y el santiagueño Tomás Lezana (capitán) en el fondo del pack junto al segunda línea porteño Guido Petti Pagadizábal.

Los entrenadores de Pumas 7s, el porteño  Santiago Gómez Cora y el tucumano Leonardo Gravano anunciaron el plantel que disputarán  las últimas fechas del Circuito Mundial de Seven: Londres (2-3 de junio) y París(9-10 de junio) y donde destaca el quinteto cordobés Revol-Bazán Vélez-Schulz-Roura- González Rizzoni.

Después del Seven de Singapur, donde el equipo terminó en el último lugar, los Pumas 7s. viajarán a las dos últimas etapas con  jugadores de renombre como el capitán, Gastón Revol, y el ball-carrier Conrado Roura, que se agregan a Lautaro Bazán Vélez, Germán Schulz y Luciano González Rizzoni.

Completan,  los porteños  Matías Osadzuck, Santiago Alvarez Fourcade, Franco Sábato,  Rodrigo Etchart, Santiago Mare, Marcos Moroni, Felipe del Mestre, y Renzo Barbieri. Pero falta una destacada figura de la nueva generación de Pumas 7s, como es el mendocino Maximiliano Filizzola.

“Siempre es bueno el regreso de jugadores de jerarquía y experiencia. Hoy la experiencia tiene un papel fundamental por sobre el talento y es bueno que podamos contar con ellos.”, señaló el porteño Santiago Gómez Cora.

Argentina 7s en Londres, enfrentará en el Grupo A: Fidji, Nueva Zelanda y Escocia, por lo que Gómez Cora resaltó: “El equipo en Londres es consecuencia de haber dado descanso a varios y de probar jugadores en Seven de  Singapur. Es lindo jugar contra los mejores, más allá de que uno prefiera enfrentarlos en otra instancia’’.

‘’Creo que jugando contra los mejores uno es cuando más crece. Tenemos una zona para construir el equipo y acortar la brecha con los cuatro de arriba. Además tenemos la oportunidad de medirnos ante Fidji, un rival con el cual podemos tener un posible cruce en la copa  mundial”, manifestó Gómez Cora.

Los Pumas 7s estaban cuartos antes de Singapur, y se derrumbaron al séptimo escalón de la tabla general, por lo que intentarán con un equipo competitivo, remontar la tabla general en una temporada donde llegaron a dos finales de la Copa de Oro en los torneos de Ciudad del Cabo y Las Vegas.

Sobre el Mundial de San Francisco en julio, Gómez Cora expresó: “Con estos dos torneos se empieza a consolidar el grupo que va a ir al campeonato mundial. Hicimos una apuesta fuerte para que algunos jugadores descansen en la etapa del Seven de  Singapur para llegar de la mejor manera con un equipo con grandes jugadores”.

Revol and Roura return to Pumas 7s in final stages of London and Paris

The coaches of Pumas 7s,  Santiago Gómez Cora from Buenos Aires and Leonardo Gravano from Tucumán, announced the squad that will play the last two rounds of World Sevens Series: London (2-3 June) and Paris (9-10 June) and where stands out the quintet from Córdoba: Revol-Bazán Vélez-Schulz-Roura-González Rizzoni.

Argentina 7s in London, will face in Pool A: Fiji, New Zealand and Scotland, reason why Gomez Cora highlighted: "The team in London is the result of having given rest to several and testing players in Singapore Sevens. It's nice to play against the best, even if you prefer to face them in another instance''.

"I think that playing against the best one is when it grows the most. We have an area to build the team and shorten the gap with the four above. We also have the opportunity to measure ourselves against Fiji, a rival with whom we can have a possible crossing in the world championship", Gómez Cora added.
The Pumas 7s were fourth before Singapore Sevens, and they collapsed to the seventh step of the general table, so they will play with a competitive team, go up the general table in a season where they reached two Gold Cup finals in the tournament 2017/2018: Cape Town and Las Vegas.

Tras dos semanas  de descanso luego de una histórica gira por el Pacífico Sur,  que les permitió escalar a la segunda plaza de la Conferencia Sudafricana por detrás  de los Lions de Johannesburgo, se presentan favoritos para ganar a los Bulls. La franquicia argentina entrenada por los porteños  Mario Ledesma y Nicolás Fernández Miranda y el entrerriano Martín Gaitán, propone una escuadra liderada por una pareja consagrada de medios,  formada por  el apertura tucumano Nicolás Sánchez y el medio scrum mendocino Gonzalo Bertranou.

En los Bulls entrenados por el coach de las Águilas de Estados Unidos, el neozelandés  John Mitchell, tras clasificarlos  al mundial de Japón  2019, tomó la conducción de la franquicia  de Pretoria. Mitchell hará debutar como apertura a Manie Libbok deplazando al titular, el Springbok Handré Pollard.

Pollard  va como centro y  será el capitán en  ausencia de Burger Odendaal, lesionado;  como el gigante Lood de Jager en la segunda línea, donde lo reemplazará  Jason Jenkins formando con  Rudolph Snyman por primera vez ea la temporada.

En la tercera línea Thembelani Bholi se agrega a Roelof Smit y Marco van Stad, y el pilar de los Springboks, Trevor Nyakane reemplazará a Lizo Gqoboka como pilar izquierdo. 

Habrá batalla en varios puntos:  con  Creevy y Adriaan Strauss en primera línea, y en el centro del campo entre  el tucumano Matías Orlando y Jesse Kriel con rivalidad en Pumas vs Springboks trasladada al Super Rugby.

Pero fundamentalmente en la plataforma de lanzamiento entre los medios scrum Gonzalo Bertranou e Ivan van Zyl. Será  la tercera confrontación para  Los Jaguares y los Bulls , con la franquicia argentina ganando  29-11 en Buenos Aires en 2016 y con los Bulls por 26-13 en Pretoria en 2017.

Los Tupis de Brasil provocaron primer derrota sudamericana de Pumas B- The Tupis of Brazil caused the first South American defeat to Pumas B

Los Tupis de Brasil, entrenados por el cordobés Rodolfo Carlos Ambrosio, acaban de provocar la primera derrota de los Pumas B en el ámbito sudamericano, cuando se llevan disputadas dos jornadas del Seis Naciones de Sudamérica. Un hecho que conmocionó al rugby mundial.

Argentina XV, segunda selección nacional después de los Pumas, ya que Jaguares  cuenta con los mismos jugadores que el primer seleccionado, presentó ante los Tupis de Brasil en Newman (el club del entrenador porteño Felipe Contepomi), a jugadores con trayectoria internacional.
Entre ellos a los porteños Tomás Cubelli, Joaquín Díaz Bonilla, Juan Cruz Gonzáles, los tucumanos Benjamín Macome Santiago Portillo y Sabtiago Resino y los cordobeses , Franco Brarda, y Nicolás Cantarutti. A los que se agregan jugadores procedentes de los Pumitas en Mundial M20.
Los Pumas B  debutaron en Asunción, ganando a Paraguay 64-3 y en el Club Newman en la periferia de Buenos Aires, enfrentó a Brasil ayer perdiendo por 36-33  y recibirá a  Uruguay XV, el próximo domingo 20 en la misma cancha.

Según Felipe Contepomi, "Hay que responsabilizarse. Los partidos son de 80’ y no sirve jugar 40’ y  después bajar la cortina, dando la sensación de que queríamos que terminara el partido. Hay que erradicar eso de todo jugador, pero especialmente de un jugador de seleccionado, porque serlo es un privilegio y hay que hacer valer cada minuto en el que uno se pone la camiseta argentina".

Mientras que el cordobés Rodolfo Carlos Ambrosio, entrenador-jefe de Los Tupis de Brasil, puso de relieve: ’Tuvimos un muy buen scrum y porque se mantuvo la capacidad para mantener el ritmo en el segundo tiempo, pero no imaginábamos ganar, aunque uno siempre trabaja para eso, para ganar . Ahora hay que dar vuelta la página y pensar en el futuro, el próximo juego’’.

Al seleccionado provincial irlandés, de Leinster no le sobró nada, y conquistó con lo justo, su cuarta corona de la Copa de Campeones de Europa, gracias a que el wing neozelandés Isa Nacewa, en el minuto 78, selló con un penal la victoria sobre el Racing Club de France  por 15-12 (6-6). El Racing 92 de París, salió a morder por toda la cancha del mítico  Estadio de San Mamés en Bilbao, el noroeste de España, y fronterizo al País Vasco Francés. Conducido por el  medio scrum Teddy Iribarren, de inocultable origen vasco, Racing 92 brilló con el  goleador que marcó 4  penales de alta clase.

Además, Leinster, no esperaba una presión descomunal del Racing superlativo, y se quedó frenado en su estupor, por su mejor opción goleadora, el  apertura Johathan Sexton, con pasado en el Racing parisino y que apenas le embocó tres penales a su ex equipo. Los otros 2 fueron del kiwi  Isa Nacewa. Es más, el Racing Club de France tuvo la posibilidad de llevarse el triunfo a la capital francesa, si  Remi Tales, convocado tarde al primer equipo, no embocara un drop en tiempo de descuento, en los últimos suspiros agitados de un desafío al último aliento. A Leinster la provincia más prolífica de Irlanda por delante de Munster (que llegó a semifinales), Ulster y Connaught, le pesómucho la presión que arrastraba de marzo, cuando el seleccionado de Irlanda conquistó el Gran Slam del Seis Naciones 2018.
