Tras las victorias de Argentina XV sobre Chile por 45-10, de Uruguay ante Brasil por 23-12 y de Estados Unidos frente a Canadá por 52-34, se completó la tercera jornada del Americas Rugby Championship 2017 que lideran los Pumas B y las Águilas estadounidenses con 14 puntos,  seguidos de Canadá con 6, Uruguay 5, Brasil 4 y Chile sin puntos.

En la búsqueda del primado absoluto dentro de dos semanas, el próximo sábado por la cuarta y penúltima fecha, Estados Unidos viajará a Chile para enfrentar a los Cóndores en Santiago, mientras que  Argentina XV lo hará a Ushuaia para recibir a Brasil y Canadá también volará al sur del continente, donde disputará con Uruguay el tercer peldaño del podio en el Campus de Maldonado.

La tercera jornada del Seis Naciones de las Américas tuvo dos encuentros que concitaron las expectativas del torneo panamericano donde Los Pumas B conducidos por el medio scrum Lautaro Bazán Vélez se impuso a los Cóndores en Talcahuano con por 6 tries a 1, y donde las Águilas también de visitante le ganaron a los Canucks de Canadá en Vancouver por 7 tries a 4 (Mike Te'o 3 tries).

After the victories of Argentina XV on Chile by 45-10, Uruguay against Brazil by 23-12 and the United States against Canada by 52-34, the third round of 2017 Americas Rugby Championship was completed that lead the Pumas B and the American Eagles with 14 points, followed by Canada with 6, Uruguay 5, Brazil 4 and Chile without points.

In the quest for absolute primacy within two weeks, next Saturday for the fourth and penultimate round, the United States will travel to Chile to face the Condores at Santiago, while Argentina XV will make Ushuaia to receive Brazil, and Canada will also fly To the south of continent, where it will play with Uruguay the third rung of podium at Campus of Maldonado.

Murió hoy  a los 45 años el ex medio scrum de los Springboks  Joost van der Westhuizen campeón mundial en Sudáfrica 1995 en final frente a Nueva Zelanda. La ex estrella del rugby sudafricano murió ésta mañana tras un calvario comenzado en 2011 cuando le diagnosticaron la enfermedad de la neurona motora, que es un trastorno neurológico progresivo que destruye las neuronas motoras, células que controlan la actividad muscular voluntaria esencial como hablar, caminar, respirar y tragar.

Conocí a Joost van der Westhuizen en el Ellis Park de Johannesburgo en junio de 1995, en mi tercera visión del rugby en Sudáfrica ya que la primera se produjo en mayo de 1980 cuando los Jaguares-Sudamérica XV enfrentaron a los Springboks en el King Park de Durban y la segunda en el regreso de Sudáfrica a la escena mundial tras el ’’Apartheid’’ (cultura y razas separadas) en 1992 con test match en Ellis Park de Johannesburgo ante Nueva Zelanda y Newlands de Ciudad del Cabo ante Australia. Pero en 1995 eran tiempos de la III Copa Mundial Sudáfrica 1995. Del presidente Nelson Madiba Mandela, del wing Chester Williams, del apertura goleador Joel Stransky, socio de aventuras mundialistas del medio scrum Joost Van der Westhuizen. del flanker y capitán Francois Pienaar y del full back André Joubert, entre otros. Pero también de estrellas como los All Blacks Jonah Lomu, Sean Fitzpatrick,  Ian Jones, Josh Kronfeld,  Zinzan Brooke, Andrew Mehrtens, Walter Little, Frank Bunce, Jeff Wilson,  Glen Osborne y Ant Strachan.

Van der Westhuizen  había notado algo de debilidad por primera vez en su brazo derecho al final de 2008, pero dijo que eran efectos secundarios de una vieja lesión del rugby. El Dr. Henry Kelbrick, médico personal y amigo de la familia, notó su debilidad en el brazo derecho y organizó tests.

En ese momento, Van der Westhuizen recibió entre dos y cinco años de vida. Un informe de la BBC Sport de agosto de 2013 ilustraba la evolución de la enfermedad  y ya Van der Westhuizen estaba confinado a silla de ruedas, y hablaba con suma dificultad. Le dijo al periodista James Peacock, ’’Me doy cuenta de que cada día podría ser el último. Ha sido una montaña rusa desde el primer momento  y sé que estoy en un lecho de muerte a partir de ahora’’.

El pasado 4 de febrero de 2017 ingresó en Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos del Hospital Fourways Life de Johannesburgo, donde le colocaron respirador mecánico. Y hoy murió a los 45 años tras un calvario comenzado en 2011 cuando le diagnosticaron la enfermedad de la neurona motora.

The former South African rugby star died this morning after an ordeal started in 2011 when he was diagnosed with motor neuron disease, a progressive neurological disorder that destroys motor neurons, cells that control essential voluntary muscle activity such as talking, walking, breathe and swallow. 

I met Joost van der Westhuizen at Ellis Park in Johannesburg in June 1995, in my third view of rugby in South Africa as the first came in May 1980 when the Jaguars-South America XV pitted the Springboks at King Park of Durban and the second  was in South Africa's return to the world stage after Apartheid (culture and separate races) in 1992 with a test match at Johannesburg's Ellis Park against New Zealand and Newlands in Cape Town against Australia. But in 1995 were times of  III World Cup South Africa 1995 with President Nelson Madiba Mandela, wing Chester Williams, fly half and scorer Joel Stransky, partner of world-wide adventures of scrum half Joost Van der Westhuizen. The flanker and captain Francois Pienaar and full back André Joubert, among others. Van der Westhuizen had noticed some weakness for the first time in his right arm at the end of 2008, but said that they were side effects of an old rugby injury. Dr. Henry Kelbrick, a personal physician and friend of the family, noted his weakness in his right arm and organized tests.
At that time, Van der Westhuizen received between two and five years of life. A BBC Sport report of August 2013 illustrated the evolution of  disease and Van der Westhuizen was already confined to a wheelchair, and he spoke with great difficulty. He told journalist James Peacock, "I realize that every day could be the last. It's been a roller coaster from the start and I know I'm on a deathbed from now''.
On February 4, 2017, he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Fourways Life Hospital in Johannesburg, where he was given a respirator. And today he died at age 45 after an ordeal started in 2011 when he was diagnosed with motor neuron disease.

L’Argentine XV avec le duo  de Cordoba, Fernando Luna-Franco Brarda débuts à Six Nations des Amériques contre Canada.

Avec le duo de Cordoba Fernando Luna-Franco Brarda, l’Argentine XV débuts demain contre le Canada dans les deuxième Six Nations des Amériques au stade Westhills à Langford, nord-ouest du Canada. Brésil aujourd'hui achevée entraînée par Carlos Rodolfo  de Cordoba Ambrosio, reçoit  au stade de Pacaembu Chili à San-Paulo et demain à San Antonio,  l’États-Unis accueilleront l’Uruguay.

El campeón saliente del Seis Naciones, Inglaterra, se prepara a retener su corona 2016 enfrentando el sábado a Francia en Twickenham, en edición que tendrá un bonus de tres puntos a quién gane el ’’Gran Slam’’ (sobre los cinco restantes) por lo que crecen las expectativas del plantel entrenado por el australiano-japonés Eddie Jones.

El  18º Seis Naciones comenzará el sábado,  hasta el sábado18 de marzo y por  primera vez, utilizará el sistema de punto bonus, con cuatro puntos para un triunfo o dos para un empate. Quien anote cuatro o más tries en un partido tendrá un punto bonus ofensivo, y un equipo que pierda por 7 o menos puntos,  tendrá punto bonus defensivo.

Para asegurar que un equipo que gane todos sus partidos (el Grand Slam) ganará el torneo, al recibir tres puntos adicionales. Habrá pausa  de una semana entre las rondas dos y tres y otra entre rondas tres y cuatro; y es favorito para apostadores británicos, Inglaterra, seguido por Irlanda, Gales, Francia, Escocia e Italia.
