Los Wallabies contra los Springboks cayeron sin atenuantes por 35-17 en la primera jornada del VIII Rugby Championship 2019 disputado en el Ellis Park de Johannesburgo, por lo que claman un triunfo el sábado en el Suncorp Stadium de Brisbane en el noreste australiano, adonde los Pumas son considerados  como favoritos en la segunda ronda del máximo certamen del hemisferio sur. Australia viene de perder 12 de sus últimas 16 confrontaciones y busca a toda costa el éxito en su cancha donde ya disputaron 20 test-matches, presentando 12 cambios del 15 titular que hace una semana fue batido por Sudáfrica. Y para ello intenta reforzar su pack de delanteros y dar mayor dinámica a su línea de tres cuartos para evitar una segunda derrota consecutiva. Los Pumas ganaron a los Wallabies el año pasado en Gold Coast, dando término a un ayuno de 35 años de una victoria en Australia. Además, están los preparativos para la Copa Mundial de Japón y una derrota ante Argentina hará que suenen fuerte  las campanas de alarma para el entrenador Michael Cheika, ex compañero de coaching de Mario Ledesma en el Mundial de Inglaterra 2015. Los Pumas que vienen de poner contra las cuerdas a los All Blacks, cayendo por 20-16 en Vélez Sársfield,  presentarán  ante los Wallabies a una renovada tercera línea con los santiagueños Facundo Isa y Tomás Lezana; mientras que el segunda línea cordobés Matías Alemanno, irá nuevamente al banco de suplentes, como ya ocurrió frente a los All Blacks.  Christian Lealiifano jugará su primer test-match desde 2016, comenzando como apertura  contra Argentina, en equipo con varios cambios y  hubiera  debutado hace una semana ante los Springboks tras recuperarse de una lesión. Le diagnosticaron leucemia en 2017,  y ahora reemplaza a Bernard Foley como uno de los doce cambios que hace el coach Michael  Cheika. Kurtley Beale va como fullback en lugar de Tom Banks y reaparece en el banco James O'Connor tras una ausencia desde 2013. El medio scrum Will Genia va como titular en lo que será su última aparición en el estadio Suncorp, mientras que Marika Koroibete y Scott Sio reemplazan a Dane Haylett-Petty y James Slipper respectivamente.  No hay cambios en la tercera línea con capitán Michael Hooper, Isi Naisarani y Lukhan Salakaia-Loto, y la segunda línea con Izack Rodda y Rory Arnold.
