Los Pumitas forman con Inglaterra e Irlanda el trío aspirante a ser semifinalistas del IX Mundial M20 de Manchester 2016, tras una espectacular segunda fecha donde Inglaterra suma 10 puntos, y Argentina con Irlanda 8 en los tres grupos clasificatorios. Ellos tienen las máximas ilusiones: Inglaterra, subcampeón en 2015 goleó a Escocia en grupo B  44-0, Irlanda en el A  sorprendió ganando al campeón saliente, Nueva Zelanda 33-24 y Argentina en el C impresionó con el 19-13 a Sudáfrica, tercero en 2015. Los Pumitas arrancaron ovaciones al ganar por primera vez a los Baby Boks y en un Mundial M-20, adonde llegaron a semifinales en la quinta edición de Sudáfrica 2012,  bajo la conducción del coach cordobés Facundo Soler.

Argentina tuvo actuaciones superlativas del segunda línea Franco Molina (Jockey Club Córdoba), del medio scrum Lautaro Bazán Vélez (Córdoba Athletic), del N8 Conrado Roura (Palermo Bajo)  y del apertura Domingo Miotti (Tucumán Lawn Tennis). Ahora  el próximo miércoles los Pumitas si vencen al colista Japón, que fue goleado por Francia 46-14 van a semifinales. Ante Sudáfrica Miotti fue  el Matador, con 14 de los 19 puntos logrados: 4 penales y la conversión del try del wing rosarino Tomás Malanos. 

La segunda fecha: Irlanda 33-Nueva Zelanda 24, Gales 10-Georgia 9, Inglaterra 44-Escocia 0, Australia38-Italia 10, Los Pumitas 19-Sudáfrica 13, Francia 46-Japón 14. Posiciones, Zona A: Irlanda 8; Nueva Zelanda y Gales 6 y Georgia 1. Los cuatro equipos que sumen más puntos van a semifinales por lo que  la tercera fecha será  decisiva: Irlanda-Georgia,  Nueva Zelanda-Gales,  Inglaterra-Australia, Escocia-Italia, Argentina-Japón, y Sudáfrica-Francia.

Pumitas in trio candidate to semifinals of U20 World Cup

The Pumitas form with England and Ireland would-be semifinalists in IX World Cup U20 in Manchester 2016, after a spectacular second round where England has 10 points and Argentina with Ireland 8 in the three qualifying pools.
