Los Pumas 7s son de podio por segunda vez
consecutiva: tras la medalla de plata en Ciudad del Cabo, conquistaron la
medalla de bronce en Sidney, escalando a la cuarta posición del Circuito
Mundial de Seven 2017/2018, sumando 41 puntos, por detrás solamente de
Sudáfrica (58), Nueva Zelanda (54) y Australia (43). Como decir el Hemisferio
Sur en pleno.
En ésta tercera fecha del circuito, Argentina
7s cayó únicamente ante el ganador del torneo: Australia 7s, que se impuso por
28-0 en semifinales, y antes había demolido en cuartos de final a Nueva Zelanda
7s en el clásico del Mar de Tasmania por 24-12 y en la final arrolló al líder
Sudáfrica 7s por 29-0. Ahora viene la cuarta etapa en Hamilton, Nueva Zelanda,
el 3 y 4 de febrero. Como decir que los Pumas 7s con el regreso
del dúo cordobés: Gastón Revol (capitán)-Fernando Luna, consolidaron una
performance ya adquirida con el trío cordobés:
Lautaro Bazán Vélez-Conrado Roura-Luciano González Rizzoni, los tryman
de la escuadra entrenada por el porteño Santiago Gómez Cora y el tucumano
Leonardo Gravano. La escuadra argentina cuenta con recambio
generacional y entre sus representantes destacó el mendocino Maximiliano
Filizzola, que se regaló un try apenas ingresado en el segundo tiempo de la
final por el Bronce, donde los Pumas 7s ganaron a las Águilas estadounidenses 31-10
con 5 tries de Franco Sábato (2), Lautaro Bazán Vélez, Conrado Roura y
Maximiliano Filizzola. Resultados:
