Frente a los Lions sudafricanos los Jaguares abren una temporada con muchas incógnitas en éste  duro comienzo  del IV Super Rugby 2019 por la zona sudafricana, y que tendrá lugar mañana sábado a las 18:40 en cancha del Estadio Vélez Sársfield en Ciudad de Buenos Aires. En los pronósticos, los  Lions se presentan  favoritos para ganar la zona y el torneo.

Los Jaguares con los entrenadores porteños Gonzalo Quesada y Nicolás Fernández Miranda y el entrerriano Martín Gaitán, sentirán la ausencia del apertura y goleador tucumano Nicolás Sánchez, que debutó en el Stade Français Paris como uno de los mejores diez contratados del Top 14 francés, y que ahora será reemplazado por el debutante apertura porteño Joaquín Díaz Bonilla. Por lo que toda la maniobra ofensiva como repliegue defensivo, recaerá en la obtención del medio scrum mendocino Gonzalo Bertranou y en la cobertura del dúo central formado por el rosarino Jerónimo de la Fuente (nuevo capitán) y el tucumano Matías Orlando; como así también del wing tucumano Ramiro Moyano. Conformando éste cuarteto la opción más experimentada argentina. Los Jaguares enfrentaron a los Lions 7 veces desde 2016, ganando tres partidos y perdidos cuatro, con tres desafíos como local ganando los tres. Por lo tanto, los Jaguares están invictos en Vélez Sársfield contra los Lions, con  puntaje promedio a su favor de 40 a 27. Pero en ésta ocasión ese puntaje promedio muestra una ventaja visitante de 5 puntos. Además, los Jaguares terminaron   la temporada regular 2018, con el porteño Mario Ledesma como entrenador principal,  con 9 triunfos y 7 derrotas y como locales ganaron 5 y perdieron 3, consiguiendo 7 victorias seguidas entre las rondas 9 a 17, para conquistar por primera vez los  play off. En la pretemporada, los Leones con su apertura goleador Elliot Jantjies, vencieron a los Sharks  de Ciudad del Cabo por 19-14 en el ‘’Super Hero Sunday’’ del estadio  Newlands,  y fueron los primeros en preparar su aproximación al certamen. Entran al torneo como probables favoritos para encabezar la Conferencia Sudafricana nuevamente, y como favoritos para conquistar el torneo. Los Leones encabezaron la Conferencia Sudafricana en 2018 con 9 victorias y 7 derrotas, acumulando puntos bonus para hacer la diferencia por el primer puesto. Solo ganaron 3 de los 8 partidos visitantes en la temporada regular y, tras superar las primeras 2 rondas eliminatorias en Johannesburgo, ante los Crusaders en Christchurch,  cayendo en el partido  final por 37-18.

El Seven de la República, último bastión del rugby federal en Argentina- The Seven of the Republic, last bastion of federal rugby in Argentina

Con emotiva finalización a un gran esfuerzo organizativo por parte de la Unión Entrerriana de Rugby, concluyó el 35º Seven de la República, que se presenta como último bastión a la competencia del más alto nivel en el rugby federal de Argentina, y donde se lamentó para 24 de las 25 Uniones Provinciales, la suspensión  del 74º  Campeonato Argentino de Mayores, máxima competición del rugby argentino. Como ya nos hemos referido en varias ocasiones, sacar de la agenda anual a un torneo que es referente en Argentina, es como que Nueva Zelanda suspenda el Mitre 10 Cup, que Sudáfrica haga lo propio con la Currie Cup, y que Australia prescinda de la NRC,  ya que estamos en el marco del Hemisferio Sur, donde las raíces y el sentido de pertenencia, nacen, crecen y se desarrollan, en las Uniones Provinciales. Por eso éste 2018 pasará como la temporada donde el rugby federal, tuvo su identidad, su sentido de pertenencia, en el 35º Seven de la República que consagró a Córdoba campeón, y Tucumán subcampeón, gracias a la determinación y convicción del presidente de la UER, el Dr. José Carlos Cuestas, y sus colaboradores,  que hacen posible el máximo seven nacional y sudamericano. Pero, donde no hubo cobertura televisiva en directo,  por parte de la plataforma metropolitana que tiene el monopolio y que centraliza la transmisión en vivo a la zona de influencia de la Unión de Buenos Aires, y  sin ningún reflejo como por ejemplo, de las finales de campeonatos de las Uniones de Cuyo, de Rosario, de Córdoba, de Salta y de Tucumán, entre otras y que son las protagonistas del Argentino de Mayores. Por lo tanto, es hora de que el Management de las Uniones Provinciales, que son fuentes del desarrollo de sus clubes a través de todos los torneos que organiza durante la temporada, tengan presente la determinación de organizar un calendario para sus seleccionados y no solamente programar amistosos eventuales  con Brasil y Uruguay por parte de las iniciativas de Córdoba, Rosario, Tucumán y Salta. Recapitulando, la suspensión del Argentino de Mayores, por parte de los directivos de la Unión Argentina de Rugby, desde su centro en el conurbano bonaerense, y que tanto se sintió en el pasado mes de noviembre (y que antes era en marzo), ahora ya tiene la tendencia de ser más que nada, una lisa y directa interrupción sine die.

El  pilar All Black Wyatt Crockett será el capitán de los Barbarians contra los Pumas el sábado en la catedral de Twickenham, suboeste de Londres  y en lo que representa el cuarto y último partido de Argentina en la gira por el otoño-invierno europeo, donde ya encajó tres derrotas frente a Irlanda, Francia y Escocia.  El amistoso del sábado se presenta equilibrado en cuanto al resultado. Crockett  liderará  un equipo entrenado por el sudafricano Rassie Erasmus y que cuenta con ocho internacionales sudafricanos, entre ellos los actuales Springboks: el apertura  Handre Pollard y el hooker de los  Saracens Schalk Brits. Con ellos el octavo santiagueño Juan Manuel Leguizamón, quien completará la tercera línea  con los flankers sudafricanos Siya Kolisi y Pieter-Steph Du Toit.  El full back australiano de los Chiefs, Jack Debreczeni, será el  jugador más convocado de los Baa-Baas, que son entrenados por el sudafricano . Si queremos superar la ronda de grupos en la Copa del Mundo, definitivamente tenemos que tener una buena defensa y en eso estamos trabajando con estos chicos que tienen 19, 20 años y  va a tomar dos a tres años alcanzar un nivel muy bueno´´, sentenció Ledesma. Sobre ese futuro a tres años vista, Ledesma aclaró: ´´Estoy seguro de que llegaremos allí, porque éstos chicos tienen la fuerza física y mental en la que podemos trabajar, pero a un año de  la Copa del Mundo es diferente. Es  más importante desarrollar a nuestros chicos al enfrentamiento a la  dureza de los scrums del hemisferio norte".

Barbarians and Pumas bid farewell to the year in balanced challenge at Twickenham

The new zealander prop  Wyatt Crockett will be the captain of the Barbarians against Pumas on Saturday at the Cathedral of Twickenham,southern west of London,  and in what represents the fourth and final match of Argentina on the tour in European autumn-winter tour, where he already conceded three defeats against Ireland, France and Scotland. The friendly on Saturday is balanced in terms of the result. Crockett will lead a team coached by South African Rassie Erasmus, that has eight South African internationals, among them the current Springboks: the fly half Handre Pollard and the hooker of the Saracens Schalk Brits. Hubo un gran impacto en Francia cuando Fidji hizo historia con una notable victoria de 21-14, y todo muestra una imagen intrigante antes de la IX Copa del Mundo Japón 2019. En la VIII Copa Mundial Inglaterra 2015 estuvo dominada por el hemisferio sur, ya que los cuatro semifinalistas estaban formados por el cuarteto de Rugby Championship: Nueva Zelanda, Australia, Sudáfrica y Argentina. After the third and last round of the last edition  in European autumn-winter series, the world rankings show New Zealand (1st) and Ireland (2nd), respectively, in the primate.

While Argentina fell to 10th step, disappointing season with 2 wins and the last among the Top 10 at the end of the 2018. Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland ended their campaigns with a victory. There was a great impact in France when Fiji made history with a remarkable 21-14 victory, and everything shows an intriguing image before the IX World Cup Japan 2019. In the VIII World Cup England 2015 was dominated by the Southern Hemisphere, already that the four semifinalists were formed by the Rugby Championship quartet: New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Argentina. En la tercera jornada de la última serie del otoño-invierno europeo 2018, Escocia se presenta ante su público del mítico estadio de Murrayfield en Edimburgo, como favorito por 10 puntos  sobre  Argentina, para redimirse del contraste ante Sudáfrica hace una semana (20-26); y  Argentina intenta reacomodar sus líneas luego de sendas derrotas frente a Irlanda (28-17)  y Francia (28-13), respectivamente. En medio de clima glacial y lluvioso (2º) en Edimburgo,   la batalla estará enfocada en el fondo de la cancha con dos full backs de gran protagonismo como son  Stuart Hogg y el rosarino  Emiliano Boffelli, ya que cada uno de posee destreza para el juego en las alturas  y buena patada para despejar y lanzar el contragolpe por lo que allí estará una clave  crucial para decidir un  partido con resultado estrecho. El entrenador escocés  Gregor Townsend  buscará mayor rendimiento del pack, para consolidarlo en el scrum, en el line y en los mauls,  con el octavo sudafricano Josh Strauss , los segundas línea Jonny Gray y Grant Gilchrist. En primera línea  el pilar neozelandés Simon Berghan, el pilar sudafricano Allan Del y el hooker Fraser Brown, conforman un veterano trío de probada experiencia. En los tres cuartos al lado de Stuart Hogg, destaca el wing neozelandés Sean Maitland, el centro sudafricano Huw Jones, completando el centro Finn Russell y el juvenil wing Blair Kinghorn; mientras que la pareja de medios el juvenil apertura  Adam Hastings, se integra como playmaker, al veterano medio scrum,  capitán y goleador Greg Laidlaw (33 años).  Por el lado de Argentina, el entrenador porteño Mario Ledesma, mantiene a su pareja de medios titular, integrada por el apertura tucumano Nicolás Sánchez y el medio scrum mendocino Gonzalo Bertranou, pero desarma la pareja de centros donde destacan el rosarino Jerónimo de la Fuente y el tucumano Matías Orlando, quién es sustituido por el porteño Matías Moroni. En la segunda línea el cordobés Matías Alemanno es desplazado por el porteño Guido Petti Pagadizábal, que es reemplazado en la tercera línea por el flanker platense Rodrigo Bruni,  que completa el sector con el octavo entrerriano Javier Ortega Desio y el flanker porteño Pablo Matera. La primera línea no se toca, con los pilares porteños Santiago Medrano y Santiago García Botta y el hooker platense Agustín Creevy. En los antecedentes previos, Argentina no  le gana a Escocia desde el Mundial de Nueva Zelanda 2011, cuando se impuso por 13-12 en Wellington. Luego de produjeron cuatro derrotas consecutivas:  en el estadio Mario Alberto Kempes de Córdoba por 21-19 en 2014, en Murrayfield por 41-31 en 2014, en Murrayfield  por 19-16 en 2016 y en el Estadio Centenario de Resistencia por 44-15 en junio pasado.

Scotland is stronger than Argentina, to redeem itself

On the third round  of  final series in European Autumn-Winter 2018, Scotland is presented to its crowd  at the mythical Murrayfield stadium in Edinburgh, as a favorite by 10 points over Argentina, to redeem the contrast against South Africa a week ago (20 -26); and Argentina tries to rearrange its lines after two defeats against Ireland (28-17) and France (28-13), respectively.

In the midst of glacial and rainy weather (2º) in Edinburgh, the battle will be focused on the back of the pitch with two full backs of great prominence such as Stuart Hogg and Emiliano Boffelli from Rosario, as each one possesses skill for the game in the heights and good kick to clear and launch the backlash so there will be a crucial key to decide a match with narrow result. The Scottish coach Gregor Townsend will look for more performance of the pack, to consolidate it in the scrum, in the line and in the mauls, with the  South African Number eighth  Josh Strauss, the second line Jonny Gray and Grant Gilchrist. On the front row  the New Zealander prop Simon Berghan, the South African prop  Allan Dell, and the hooker Fraser Brown, make up a veteran trio of proven experience. In the backline  next to Stuart Hogg, highlights the New Zealander wing Sean Maitland, the South African centre Huw Jones, completing the centre Finn Russell and the youth wing Blair Kinghorn; while the media pair the youthful  fly half Adam Hastings, is integrated as playmaker, with veteran scrum half, captain and scorer Greg Laidlaw (33 years). On the side of Argentina, the Buenos Aires´s  coach Mario Ledesma, maintains his titular media pair, integrated by the Tucumán´s  fly half Nicolás Sánchez and the Mendoza´s  scrum half Gonzalo Bertranou, but disarms the couple of centre  where stands out Jerónimo de la Fuente from Rosario  and Matías Orlando from Tucumán, who is replaced by Matías Moroni from Buenos Aires. In the second line Matías Alemanno from Córdoba is displaced by Guido Petti Pagadizábal from Buenos Aires, who is replaced in the bottom line by flanker Rodrigo Bruni from La Plata, which completes the sector with number eighth  Javier Ortega Desio from Entre Ríos, and flanker Pablo Matera from Buenos Aires. In the previous history, Argentina does not beat Scotland since the 2011 New Zealand World Cup, when they won 13-12 at  Wellington. After they produced four consecutive defeats: at  Mario Alberto Kempes stadium in Cordoba by 21-19 in 2014, at  Murrayfield by 41-31 in 2014, at Murrayfield by 19-16 in 2016 and at Centenario  Stadium of Resistencia City by 44-15 last June.
