Los Pumas 7s. desbarrancaron al 9º lugar en Seven de Los Ángeles- The Pumas 7s. they uprooted to 9th place in Los Angeles Sevens

Argentina 7s repitió baja performance en el Seven de Los Ángeles, 5ta. ronda de la Serie Mundial de Seven, terminando en 9º lugar,  tras derrotar a Gales, Samoa y Canadá en la final del 9º lugar. Sudáfrica fue campeón tras ganar a Fidji por 29-24. Nueva Zelanda está 1º con 93 pts. Y Argentina en 8º lugar con 53. El sábado en Vancouver, Canadá.Los Pumas 7s, con el regreso del playmaker cordobés Lautaro Bazán Vélez, debutaron con empate de 26-26 con Francia  y ganaron a Corea del Sur 45-19, y  cayeron ante Fidji 29-24.  El domingo,  golearon a Gales 31-5  y a Samoa 28-12, para concluir por  el 9º lugar superando con lo justo a Canadá 21-19. En la segunda jornada del torneo en cuartos de final, por el 9º puesto, Argentina le ganó a Gales 31-5, en semifinales a Samoa 28-12 y en final a Canadá por 21-19. Por el Oro,  Sudáfrica, venció a Fidji 29-24 y en cuartos a Estados Unidos 12-10 y en semifinales a Nueva Zelanda 17-0. Por un esguince de tobillo, el cordobés Luciano González Rizzoni, que marcó un try decisivo en el empate de Argentina 7s y Francia 7s en 26-26, se vio obligado a dejar el torneo y será baja para  Vancouver, en Canadá, entre el sábado 7 y domingo 8 de marzo. El cordobés Germán Schulz anotó un doblete en la goleada de Argentina 7s a Gales 7s de 31-5 y un try en Argentina 7s 45-Corea del Sur 19. Ahora en Vancouver, los Pumas 7s., se las verán en la primera ronda eliminatoria por el grupo A, a Los Pumas 7s al campeón en Los Ángeles, Sudáfrica, a Inglaterra y a Japón.

Argentina 7s repeated low performance at Los Angeles Sevens, 5th. Round of the World Sevens Series, finishing in 9th place, after defeating Wales, Samoa and Canada in the final of 9th place. South Africa was champion after winning Fiji 29-24. New Zealand is 1st with 93 pts. And Argentina in 8th place with 53. On Saturday in Vancouver, Canada, the Pumas 7s, with the return of Cordoba´s playmaker Lautaro Bazán Vélez, debuted with a 26-26 draw with France and won South Korea 45-19, and fell against Fiji 18-24. On Sunday, they beat Wales 31-5 and Samoa 28-12, to conclude for 9th place beating Canada just 21-19. On the second day of  tournament in the quarterfinals, for 9th place, Argentina beat Wales 31-5, Samoa 28-12 in the semifinals and Canada 21-19 in final. For Gold medal, South Africa, beat Fidji 29-24 and in quarterfinals to United States 12-10 and in semifinals to New Zealand 17-0. For a sprained ankle, Cordoba´s  Luciano Gonzalez Rizzoni, who scored a decisive try in the draw of Argentina 7s and France 7s in 26-26, was forced to leave the tournament and will be low for Vancouver, in Canada, between Saturday 7 and Sunday March 8.

 The Cordoba´s  Germán Schulz scored a double try in the win of Argentina 7s to Wales 7s by 31-5 and a try in Argentina 7s 45-South Korea 19. Now in Vancouver, the Pumas 7s., will be seen in the first qualifying round by pool A, to the champion in Los Angeles, South Africa, England and Japan.

Inglaterra vuelve en formato mundial ganando a Irlanda-England returns in world format beating Ireland

La Inglaterra entrenada por el australiano-japonés  Eddie Jones está en la carrera por el título del 21º Seis Naciones 2020, ganando a Irlanda en la Catedral de Twickenham por 24-12 (17-0) , sumando 9 puntos junto a su vencido Irlanda, pero distanciado a 4 puntos del líder absoluto Francia,  que cuenta con 13,  luego de disputadas tres rondas.

Pero en el desafío por la Triple Crown, el XV de la Rosa de los Tudor, fue más determinado que el Trébol de Irlanda, entrenada por el debutante inglés Andy Farrell, el padre del capitán y goleador inglés Owen Farrell.

Inglaterra construyó su  segunda victoria en el torneo, frenando la embestida de Irlanda que se ilusionaba con convertirse en el gran desafiante de Francia en la carrera al título,  y lo hizo con  un try a los 8´del apertura George Ford , convertido por Owen Farrell. Fue un try con rápido reflejo en el ingol.

Irlanda salió a replicar,  pero no contó con los errores de su capitán y apertura goleador Jonny  Sexton.  El equipo de Jones está poseído, .y con el  Maul  empuja a Irlanda a su propio  ingol  por lo que el  equipo de Andy Farrell sufre mucho, y pierde  en el líne sus 22 metros, pero la defensa se salva.

A su vez, Irlanda no encuentra  agujeros en la pared blanca y cuando pierde el balón es la velocidad del wing Jonathan  Joseph la que duele, con Inglaterra nuevamente en el campo adversario, en los 22 finales y a los 39' Owen Farrell con penal  sentenció  con un +17 que le tuerce la mano al escuadrón del Trébol.

A los 47 ', Farrell se aferra a la pierna del octavo CJ.  Stander, quien reacciona golpeándolo varias veces y el árbitro sudafricano Jaco Peyper castiga con razón al inglés. Irlanda emprendió un ataque  furioso y a los 59´ logró el try del centro Robbie Henshaw ,  pero Sexton falla en la conversión.

Luego de 10´ de sentirse contra las cuerdas,  Inglaterra sale de su encierro y  vuelve a presionar, mientras que los dos entrenadores  cambian varios peones en un partido de alta intensidad. Y una vez más, la entrada de Ellis Genge en el campo cambia los valores en el scrum cerrado, con Irlanda sufriendo la superioridad del pilar inglés.

Y el segundo maul dominante es el hooker  Luke Cowan-Dickie en aplastar la pelota en el try  convertido por Farrell y cerrando el partido. .Irlanda, quiso evitar el punto bonus a  los ingleses en  la carrera por el título y  Sexton y sus compañeros descuentan con el try de  Andrew Porter convertido por  John Cooney  para el  24-12 final.

En la tercera y última fecha como locales en el XXI Super Rugby, los Jaguares le ganaron a los Queensland Reds por 43-27 12-24), tras haber encajado 4 tries en el primer tiempo. Ahora la franquicia argentina parte a la gira sudafricana con otro talante, para enfrentar a los Stormers en Ciudad del Cabo el próximo sábado. Los Jaguares, donde la figura fue el full back cordobés Santiago Carreras, remontó un desarrollo adverso y derrotó a los australianos Queensland Reds por 43-27 (parcial 12-24), en uno de los encuentros por la tercera fecha del Super Rugby, en el estadio José Amalfitani del Club Vélez Sársfield, en Buenos Aires. Los Reds, se pusieron en ventaja en un primer tiempo donde dominaron a los finalistas del año pasado y que se recuperaron con una excelente segunda parte en la que redujeron al rival a la mínima expresión, y con cuatro tries dieron vuelta al marcador y lograron un triunfo que los sitúa en tercer lugar de la tabla, por detrás de los neozelandeses Chiefs y de los Stormers sudafricanos. Los Jaguares, fueron vulnerados en su defensa en la cobertura del centrocampo y los  Reds aprovecharon con eficacia para apoyar cuatro tries con  Tate McDermott (11’), Liam Wright (19’) y Chris Feauai-Sautia (29’ y 35’). Y llegaron a una ventaja de 24-7 con presagios de catástrofe para los Jaguares, que descontaron con tries del hooker porteño Julián Montoya y el wing rosarino Emiliano Boffelli.  Pero el partido cambió en la segunda parte, con el ingreso en los Jaguares  de delanteros con experiencia y carácter como el segunda línea cordobés Matías Alemanno.

Los Jaguares donde destacan los cordobeses Juan Cruz Mallía como centro y Santiago Carreras como full back, enfrentarán a los  Lions de Johannesburgo, liderados por el apertura Elton Jantjies, por la primera fecha de la Conferencia Sudafricana en el V Super Rugby 2020. El desafío se disputarán a las 20:00 del sábado, en el estadio del Club Vélez Sarsfield y será el debut para los Jaguares  finalistas en la edición 2019, ganada por los Canterbury Crusaders de Nueva Zelanda por 19-3. Como en 2019, el máximo torneo del hemisferio sur a nivel de selecciones provinciales, se disputará de manera ininterrumpida por 21 semanas, ya que la ventana internacional del otoño-invierno,  tendrá lugar en julio. Cada equipo jugará 16 partidos en la fase regular, incluidos los ocho cruces de ida y vuelta con los rivales de conferencia y cuatro encuentros ante equipos de las restantes conferencias y cada franquicia tendrá dos semanas de descanso. El 6 de junio se diputarán los cuartos de final, las semifinales el 13 de junio y la  final el 20 de junio.  Los Jaguares en 2019, encabezaron la Conferencia Sudafricana con 10 puntos y ganaron los play-offs en Vélez Sársfield contra los Chiefs y los Brumbies antes de perder la final contra los Crusaders en Christchurch. Ganaron 2 de sus primeros 6 partidos en la temporada regular, pero llegaron a la cima en 9 de los 10 partidos. En Buenos Aires ganaron 6 de 8 además de los primeros 2 play offs. As in 2019, the top tournament in the southern hemisphere at the level of provincial teams will be held uninterruptedly for 21 weeks, since the international autumn-winter window will take place in July. Each team will play 16 games in the regular phase, including the eight round-trip crossings with the conference rivals and four meetings against teams from the remaining conferences and each franchise will have two weeks off. The Jaguares in 2019, led the South African Conference with 10 points and won the play-offs in Vélez Sársfield against the Chiefs and the Brumbies before losing the final against the Crusaders at Christchurch. In general, the Lions have won 6 of 9 direct clashes against Jaguares, but in Buenos Aires the Argentinians lead 3-1. The Lions come from losing to the Bulls by 40-35 in friendly.

Luego de la tercera ronda de la Serie Mundial de Seven 2019/2020, los Pumas 7s, que estaban en 4º lugar tras Dubai y Ciudad del Cabo, desbarrancaron al 5º escalón en el Seven de Hamilton, isla norte de Nueva Zelanda, donde terminaron en 7º lugar. Nueva Zelanda sigue 1º al ganar el oro a Francia por 27-5.

Fue un duro sofocón para la escuadra donde destacan los cordobeses, Gastón Revol, Germán Schulz, y Luciano González Rizzoni, debutar encajando una sonora derrota frente a Australia por 39-7, con quien comparte ahora el 5º puesto en la tabla general, sumando 35 puntos, por 63 del líder Nueva Zelanda.

En semifinales por el oro, Francia (3º) ganó a Inglaterra (5º) por 10-5, y Nueva Zelanda (1º) a Australia (8º) por 17-14; y en la final por el cetro, Nueva Zelanda arrasó a Francia por 27-5, mientras que por la final del bronce,  Australia dio cuenta de Inglaterra por 33-21.

Ahora viene, precisamente, el Seven de Sidney, la cuarta fecha que se disputará el próximo fin de semana, donde compiten hombres y mujeres y es el segundo doble título que las mujeres jugarán esta temporada después de Dubai y Ciudad del Cabo en diciembre.

La Serie Mundial de Seven 2019/2020 concluirá en París, entre el 30 y 31 de mayo, antes de que 24 equipos masculinos y femeninos viajen a Japón para disputar los Juegos Olímpicos de verano Tokio 2020, donde se jugará el rugby seven por segunda vez, del 27 de julio al 1º  de agosto en el Ajinomoto Stadium de Tobitakyu.

En el Seven de Hamilton, Los Pumas 7s debutaron encajando un sonora goleada ante Australia 7s de 39-7,  con 6 tries de los oceánicos del Pacífico Sur. Luego remontaron la pendiente frente a Samoa ganando 40-0, con tries de Luciano González Rizzoni  (2), Matías Osadczuk (2), Germán Schulz y Franco Sábato.

En el tercer partido de la fase clasificatoria, Argentina 7s se redimió ganando a Fidji 26-10, con tries de Santiago Álvarez Fourcade, Germán Schulz, Matías Osadczuk, y Franco Sábato, pero no alcanzó para pasar a semifinales de Oro, y terminó en segundo lugar en el grupo por detrás de Australia, con 7 puntos.

Por el 7º lugar, Argentina 7s logró superar a Kenia por 19-17 con tries de Rodrigo Isgro, Franco Sábato y Felipe Del Mestre, mas dos conversiones de Rodrigo Isgro. Los Ceibos, la franquicia profesional argentina comienza hoy la pretemporada que apunta a su debut en nla primera edición de la Súper Liga Sudamericana de Rugby, con un plantel de 30 jugadores entrenados por el porteño Ignacio Fernández Lobbe, el cordobés Julio César García y el tucumano Diego Ternavasio.  

Junto al flanker  Conrado Roura (Palermo Bajo), se pone en evidencia un cuarteto cordobés integrado por el segunda línea Franco Molina (Jockey Club Córdoba), el wing Leopoldo Herrera (Córdoba Athletic), el centro Agustín Segura (Jockey Club Córdoba) y el hooker Leonel Oviedo (Córdoba Athletic). Es decir, la primera franquicia profesional argentina, convocó a ex jugadores de Argentina XV, Jaguares XV y Pumas 7s, que se integran a la pretemporada que se inicia hoy lunes 13 de enero y con  posterior debut el 28 de febrero como visitante, ante el Corinthians en  San Pablo,  en el primer torneo profesional sudamericano. Con mayoría de jugadores porteños, y al que se integran tucumanos, cordobeses, rosarinos, chaqueños y mendocinos, los  Ceibos, protagonizarán la naciente Súper Liga Sudamericana de Rugby, el primer certamen profesional de América del Sur, junto a equipos de Brasil, Chile, Paraguay y Uruguay, y en 2021, de Colombia. Hay un cordobés en la franquicia uruguaya de Peñarol de Montevideo:  el medio scrum de La Tablada, Alfredo Pueyrredón y otro en los Selknam chilenos, el flanker villamareinse Rodrigo Bruno. El torneo comenzará el 28 de febrero y terminará a fines de mayo de 2020, con 5 franquicias: Los Ceibos (Argentina), Corinthians (Brasil), Olimpia (Paraguay),  Peñarol (Uruguay), y los Selknam (Chile) y a partir de 2021, con Los Cafeteros (Colombia). El campeonato tendrá  12 semanas de disputa, con formato de todos contra todos en dos ruedas, con localías alternadas (10 fechas, con ocho compromisos para cada uno); Ceibos será anfitrión en Córdoba. Los primeros cuatro jugarán las semifinales y el quinto sostendrá dos partidos ante un sexto conjunto, el de Colombia, que se sumará a partir de 2021.
