En el altiplano sudafricano (1.800 metros sobre el nivel del mar) los Lions ganaron a los Jaguares en el Ellis Park de Johannesburgo, sometiéndolos en todas las fases del juego para concluir una performance que los relanza,  tras la cuarta ronda del IV Super Rugby al ganar 47-39 (26-13) y compartir con la franquicia argentina la tercera posición en Conferencia Sudafricana. Fue la novena derrota consecutiva de los Jaguares en sus visitas a Sudáfrica, la tercera en lo que va de la gestión del entrenador porteño Gonzalo Quesada y ahora enfrentan una semana corta para rehabilitarse y jugar el viernes por la quinta ronda frente a los Stormers en Ciudad del Cabo (sobre el nivel del mar), y que vienen de tener fecha libre por lo que ocupan la quinta plaza en la Conferencia Sudafricana. Los Lions resucitaron en el mítico templo del Ellis Park, tras derrotas con los Stormers de Ciudad del Cabo y los Bulls de Pretoria, marcando siete tries con el segunda línea Rhyno Herbst, el apertura Elton Jantjies, el octavo Kwagga Smith, el centro Wandisile Simelane, el flanker Marnus Schoeman y el doblete del wing  Courtnall Skosan (2).  El apertura Springbok Elliot Jantjies sumó seis conversiones totalizando 17 puntos que lo catapultaron a la quinta posición de los mayores goleadores del Super Rugby con 1015 puntos, por detrás de Dan Carter 1.708mpts, 2º Morné Steyn 1.449, 3º Beauden Barrett 1.130 y 4º Stirling Morlock 1.036 pts. Marcaron para los Jaguares, el wing tucumano Ramiro Moyano, el hooker porteño Julián Montoya, el hooker suplente porteño Gaspar Baldunciel, el centro porteño Matías Moroni  y el full back platense Joaquín Tuculet. En la clasificación de la Conferencia Sudafricana los Jaguares están terceros y en la general del Super Rugby, están octavos.

The Lions resurfaced in the legendary Ellis Park temple, after defeats with the Cape Town Stormers and the Pretoria Bulls, scoring seven tries with lock Rhyno Herbst, fly half Elton Jantjies, number eighth Kwagga Smith, centre Wandisile Simelane, flanker Marnus Schoeman and wing Courtnall Skosan (2).
