Los Bulls en último amistoso de pretemporada batieron a Jaguares por 21-12 (14-0) en cancha B del estadio Loftus Versfeld de Pretoria, capital administrativa de Sudáfrica. 

El sábado próximo comienza el Super Rugby 15 con Stormers vs Jaguares en Ciudad del Cabo. El entrenador neozelandés John Mitchell, presentó a los Bulls ante los Jaguares con varios Springboks como el segunda línea y capitán Lood De Jager, Marnitz Boshoff y Trevor Nyakane, y en el banco a Warrick Gelant, Jesse Kriel, Handré Pollard, Roelof Smit y RG Snyman. Marcaron para los Bulls a los 16’ y 21’ tries el flanker Themba Bholi y el pilar Frans Van Wyk convertidos por el apertura Manie Libbok. En el segundo tiempo sumó a los 46’ un try el full back suplente Warrick Gelant convertido por el apertura suplente Handre Pollard. Por el lado de los Jaguares tras el parcial de 0-14, en el segundo tiempo marcaron dos tries con el hoocker porteño Julián Montoya (59’) y el flanker entrerriano Javier Ortega Desio (79’), más una conversión del apertura suplente, el porteño Juan Hernández. Antes del encuentro hubo lluvia en el noroeste sudafricano  y a la hora del partido se redujo a llovizna, por lo que los Bulls fueron más reactivos que la defensa del equipo entrenado por los porteños Mario Ledesma y Nicolás Fernández Miranda y el entrerriano Martín Gaitán.

Los Pumas 7's cayeron en la final del Challenge Trophy, el Bronce del Seven de Hamilton, frente a Estados Unidos que se impuso 31-12. En cuartos de final Argentina 7s ganó  a Rusia 21-12  y en semifinales había eliminado a Canadá por 14-12. En la final por el Oro, Fidji ganó a Sudáfrica 24-17.

Tras cuatro etapas disputadas Argentina 7s bajó al 5º lugar al sumar 48 puntos por detrás del líder Sudáfrica con 77, 2º Nueva Zelanda 69, 3º Fidji 62 y 4º Australia con 60 unidades. La quinta etapa se disputará en Las Vegas, Estados Unidos, entre el 2 y 4 de marzo. En la final del Bronce los tries de Argentina 7s fueron apoyados por el cordobés Conrado Roura y el porteño Marcos Moroni. En semifinales frente a Canadá, marcaron el cordobés Luciano González Rizzoni y el porteño Máximo Provenzano. Mientras que en los cuartos de final de Bronce disputados frente a Rusia,  los Pumas 7s marcaron con  el cordobés Conrado Roura, el porteño Severiano Escobio y el mendocino Maximiliano Filizzola.

Figuras en Estados Unidos, el medio scrum Nate Augspurger y el apertura Will Magie que supieron sacar provecho a un pack de delanteros que dominó el line, el scrum y los mauls, eclipsando a los porteños Luca Magnasco y Juan Cruz González, los medios de Argentina XV, de escaso rendimiento. Fue histórica y emotiva la performance de Luciano González Rizzoni en llevar a los Pumas 7s a una remontada indescriptible para ganar a Escocia 19-14 al último aliento en la jornada inaugural del Seven de Hamilton que se está disputando en Nueva Zelanda.

Lo de Lucho González Rizzoni fue alucinante, omnipresente. Produjo un tackle espectacular que salvó el try escocés del 19-12 y en cambio en galopada coast to coast, apoyó elde try de la dramática victoria al último minuto 19-14, galopando 203 metros entre la persecución al escocés y su arranque desde el ingol argentino para terminar bajo los palos escoceses. ¡Qué regreso !

Pero Argentina 7s comenzó cuesta arriba el primer tiempo con 0-14 abajo por tries de Max MacFarland y Scott Riddell y la lesión del capitán Gastón Revol. En el segundo tiempo anotaron los porteños Franco Sábato y Felipe del Mestre para el 12-14, y el cordobés Luciano Gonzáles Rizzoni, decretó el 19-14 final. Ahora viene Francia en el segundo encuentro en la madrugada del domingo (01:08 ) y que viene de ser goleado por Nueva Zelanda (52-7) que será el último rival en la etapa clasificatoria para los Pumas 7s a las 04:34. ‘’El equipo de Escocia tuvo una muy buena ubicación, así que fue muy difícil para nosotros penetrar su defensa.
