Los Jaguares con Juan Cruz Mallía desafían a los Blues- The Jaguares with Juan Cruz Mallía they challenge the Blues

The Jaguares with Juan Cruz Mallía they challenge the Blues

The Argentinian franchise Los Jaguares, with the full back from Córdoba, Juan Cruz Mallía, they challenges the Auckland Blues, the New Zealand provincial franchise in the third round of the 4th Super Rugby 2019 to be held tomorrow at the Vélez Sársfield Club Stadium from Buenos Aires, which will be an unprecedented match , since they never met in Argentina. The Jaguares won one and lost another in Auckland and in Albany, on the northern tip of the New Zealand northern island. The Jaguares won the most recent game in Auckland, but the first time the Blues met they won in Albany. The Jaguares come from beating the Pretoria Bulls 27-12 in Buenos Aires City and the Blues from falling against Sharks 26-7 at Durban. For this momentous confrontation, the Jaguares, which are specifically a provincial selection according to the rules of the Southern Hemisphere and the Sanzaar in particular, which organizes the contest, Juan Cruz Mallía will be in charge of the neuralgic bottom backline, being assisted by wing from Tucumán Ramiro Moyano and the Buenos Aires Province´s wing Bautista Delguy. Also the experienced Tucuman´s  centre Matías Orlando will be captain of the national team for the injured Rosario´s  centre  Jerónimo de la Fuente, operated on the right shoulder and goes down for a month. Orlando-De la Fuente is the best option that the Jaguares propose in centre backline this Super Rugby of 15 teams. After the game with Auckland New Zealand Blues, the Jaguares after three rounds played at home will start the tour of South Africa comprising the South African Conference against the Johannesburg Lions on Saturday March 9 and the Cape Town Stormers on Friday  March 15; having then free next round.

The Jaguares against Lions open a season with many unknowns

The Jaguares against Lions open a season with many unknowns

In front of the South Africans Lions, the Jaguares open a season with many unknowns in this hard start of the IV Super Rugby 2019 in  South African zone, and that will take place tomorrow Saturday at 18:40 on the pitch of Vélez Sársfield Stadium at Buenos Aires City. In the predictions, The Lions are presented favorites to win the zone and the tournament. The Jaguares with coaches Gonzalo Quesada and Nicolás Fernández Mirandafrom Buenos Aires and Martín Gaitán from Entre Ríos, will feel the absence of fly half and scorer Nicolás Sánchez from Tucumán, who made his debut at Stade Français of Paris as one of the best ten hired from the French Top 14, and Now he will be replaced by  debutant fly half  Joaquín Díaz Bonilla from Buenos Aires. So the whole offensive maneuver as defensive retreat, will fall on scrum half Gonzalo Bertranou from Mendoza and in the coverage of the central lineback duo formed by Jerónimo de la Fuente (new captain), from Rosario and Matías Orlando from Tucumán; as well as wing Ramiro Moyano from Tucumán. This quartet is the most experienced option in Argentina side. The Jaguares faced the Lions 7 times since 2016, winning three games and losing four, with three home challenges winning all three. Therefore, the Jaguares are undefeated at  Vélez Sársfield pitch against  Lions, with an average score in their favor of 40 to 27. But this time that average score shows to visitor advantage of 5 points. In addition, the Jaguares finished the regular season 2018, with Mario Ledesma from Buenos Aires as head coach, with 9 wins and 7 losses and at home they won 5 and lost 3, getting 7 straight wins between rounds 9 to 17, to conquer for the first time the play off. In the preseason, the Lions with their Boks fly half  scorer Elliot Jantjies, beat the Sharks of Cape Town by 19-14 in the '' Super Hero Sunday '' at Newlands Stadium, and were the first to prepare their approach to the contest. They enter the tournament as likely favorites to head the South African Conference again, and as favorites to win the tournament. The Lions led the South African Conference in 2018 with 9 wins and 7 losses, and accumulating bonus points to make the difference for first place. They only won 3 of 8 visiting matches in the regular season and, after overcoming the first 2 rounds in Johannesburg, against the Crusaders in Christchurch, falling in the final match by 37-18.

Jaguares: 15 Joaquín Tuculet, 14 Bautista Delguy, 13 Matías Orlando, 12 Jerónimo de la Fuente (cap.), y 11 Ramiro Moyano; 10 Joaquín Díaz Bonilla, y 9 Gonzalo Bertranou; 8 Javier Ortega Desio, 7 Rodrigo Bruni, y 6 Pablo Matera; 5 Tomás Lavanini, y 4 Guido Petti Pagadizábal;  3 Santiago Medrano, 2 Agustín Creevy, 1 Mayco Vivas. Suplentes: 16 Julián Montoya, 17 Juan Pablo Zeiss, 18 Enrique Pieretto Heiland, 19 Matías Alemanno, 20 Marcos Kremer, 21 Martín Landajo, 22 Juan Cruz Mallía, 23 Matías Moroni.

El Seven de la República, último bastión del rugby federal en Argentina- The Seven of the Republic, last bastion of federal rugby in Argentina

The Seven of the Republic, last bastion of federal rugby in Argentina
With emotional finalization to a great organizational effort by the Entrerriana Rugby Union, concluded the 35th Seven of the Republic, which is presented as the last bastion to the competition of the highest level in the federal rugby of Argentina, and where he lamented for 24 of the 25 Provincial Unions, the suspension of the 74th Argentinian Senior Championship, the highest competition of Argentinian rugby.
As we have already mentioned on several occasions, taking out of the annual agenda a tournament that is a benchmark in Argentina, is like New Zealand suspending the Mitre 10 Cup, South Africa does the same with the Currie Cup, and that Australia dispenses with the NRC, since we are in the framework of the Southern Hemisphere, where the roots and the sense of belonging are born, grow and develop, in the Provincial Unions. That is why this 2018 will pass as the season where federal rugby, had its identity, its sense of belonging, in the 35 th Seven of the Republic that consecrated Córdoba champion, and Tucumán runner-up, thanks to the determination and conviction of the president of the UER, Dr. José Carlos Cuestas, and his collaborators, who make possible the top national and South American Sevens. But, where there was no live television coverage, on the part of the metropolitan platform that has the monopoly and that centralizes the live broadcast to the area of influence of the Union of Buenos Aires, and without any reflection as for example, the finals of championships the Unions of Cuyo, Rosario, Córdoba, Salta and Tucumán, among others and that are the protagonists of the Argentinian Seniors Championship. Therefore, it is time for the Management of the Provincial Unions, which are the sources of the development of their clubs through all the tournaments organized during the season, to be aware of the determination to organize a calendar for their selected and not only to schedule eventual friendly with Brazil and Uruguay by the initiatives of Córdoba, Rosario, Tucumán and Salta. Recapitulating, the suspension of the ´´Argentino de Mayores´´, by the executives of the Argentinian Rugby Union, from its center in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, and that it felt so much in the past month of November (and that it was before in March), now already has the tendency to be more than anything, a smooth and direct interruption sine die.

Barbarians y Pumas despiden el año en desafío equilibrado en Twickenham- Barbarians and Pumas bid farewell to the year in balanced challenge at Twickenham

Barbarians and Pumas bid farewell to the year in balanced challenge at Twickenham

The new zealander prop  Wyatt Crockett will be the captain of the Barbarians against Pumas on Saturday at the Cathedral of Twickenham, southern west of London,  and in what represents the fourth and final match of Argentina on the tour in European autumn-winter tour, where he already conceded three defeats against Ireland, France and Scotland. The friendly on Saturday is balanced in terms of the result. Crockett will lead a team coached by South African Rassie Erasmus, that has eight South African internationals, among them the current Springboks: the fly half Handre Pollard and the hooker of the Saracens Schalk Brits. With them the number eighth from Santiago del Estero, Juan Manuel Leguizamón, who will complete the bottom row  with the South African flankers Siya Kolisi and Pieter-Steph Du Toit. The Chiefs' full back from  Australia, Jack Debreczeni, will be the most called player of the Baa-Baas, who are trained by Rassie Erasmus.

On the side of the Pumas, Buenos Aires´s  coach Mario Ledesma, makes 10 changes compared to the XV incumbent who faced Scotland at Murrayfield, Edinburgh, losing 14-9, starting with full back from Córdoba, Juan Cruz Mallía who goes for his fifth cap. Along with Mallía, the lock from Córdoba, Matías Alemanno, prop from Río Negro Juan Pablo Zeiss, the hooker Julián Montoya from Buenos Aires  and the flanker from Santiago del Estero, Tomás Lezana; while wing from Tucumán, Ramiro Moyano, wing from Buenos Aires, Sebastián Cancelliere, centre from Tucumán, Matías Orlando, and the centre from Buenos Aires,  Bautista Ezcurra continue as starters. For Ledesma from Buenos Aires, "The scrums of today in Argentina last five or six seconds, reason for which the boys who come with us are surprised by the hardness of a scrum and if they last more than 10 seconds, it bothers them to be able to enjoy that kind of struggle and understand the direction it has in other areas of the  match" The Baa Baas will face Argentina XV for the third time in its 128 years of history.
"The cohesion that you achieve in a team with a solid scrum and the psychological impulse you achieve from it, is immeasurable. If we want to overcome the round of pools in the World Cup, we definitely have to have a good defense and in that we are working with these guys who are 19, 20 years old and it will take two to three years to reach a very good level'', sentenced Ledesma.
